Thank you for visiting Our Club, Maia!
We are absolutely delighted to have Maia join us. Her remarkable journey to Kenya at such a young age is a testament to her compassion and dedication to making a positive impact in the world. At just 14 years old, Maia not only raised the funds necessary for her month-long volunteering trip but also took the initiative to reach out to the Banstead & Sutton Nonsuch Rotary Club for support. The club is consistently motivated to assist as many young people as possible in their remarkable endeavours.

Maia's commitment to helping those less fortunate is truly inspiring, and we are eager to hear about her experiences and the lessons she learned during her time in Kenya. We appreciate her willingness to share her story with us, and we are grateful to have the opportunity to learn from her journey. Welcome, Maia, and thank you for being an inspiration to us all!
Her volunteering trip was organised by Camps International, a social enterprise that brings young people together to provide meaningful differences in locations around the world. Maia's volunteering involved travelling to 5 locations within Kenya. They built houses, renovated schools, taught English to children, worked on animal preservation as well as beach clean ups to protect marine life. Maia also enjoyed tasting local food, learning their traditional dance and they also had an opportunity to visit Safari - which were lovely treats between project work. In Maia's own words " It was the best and most rewarding thing I ever did. There were some long days of hard and physical work, and I didn't have much contact with my family due to limited access to the internet. But it was all worth it as I learnt so much, not just about Kenya but also about myself. Most importantly, I think we achieved so much and the communities we met were so grateful for what we did. I would love to do more for them".
