Congratulations on your well-deserved appointment, David Martin.
Today, I had the honour of passing the gong and officially handing over leadership to our incoming President. You come into this role with a wealth of experience and proven leadership, and are more than ready to take on the responsibilities ahead. I have every confidence that your vision, dedication, and commitment will continue to take our club from strength to strength. You have my full support, and I know our members will be right behind you as you begin this exciting chapter.
As I reflect on my year as the first President of our club, I do so with immense gratitude. I inherited the club from two incredible Past Presidents who made following in their footsteps no easy task. Filling two pairs of shoes was always going to be challenging, but I was fortunate to inherit a club built on strong foundations.
To Jane Illingworth and John Chamberlain, thank you for paving the way, for your leadership, and for making what I inherited that much smoother. Your guidance and example were invaluable, and I am deeply appreciative of everything you did for our club.
To our Councils, members, and volunteers, thank you for your unwavering support, commitment, and friendship throughout my presidency. Every project, event, and achievement was only possible because of your dedication and willingness to serve. It has truly been a privilege to lead such an outstanding group of people.
Serving as your President has been one of the greatest honours of my life. As one chapter closes and another begins, I look forward to supporting our new President and continuing to serve our club in every way I can.
Congratulations once again, Mr. President. I wish you every success and have no doubt you will lead with distinction.
