Lend With Care

INITIAL FINANCIAL SUPPORT: As a result of memorial tributes from two of the Club’s members, an account was opened with Lend with Care, which is part of the leading charity Care International, for the purpose of providing micro-finance loans to small business entrepreneurs in developing countries worldwide.

IMPACT ON POVERTY: By reinvesting the borrowers’ repayments, the initial loan of £2,000 from the memorial tribute has increased to more than £16,000 in total loans to date, thereby assisting 4,500 businesses and creating 730 jobs and helping 6,500 people. This is the impact that the micro-financing scheme by the BSN Banstead Sutton Nonsuch Rotary Charity has had, which makes a big difference to so many lives.

ACTIVE LOANS: Since we have been funding entrepreneurs, we have made 326 active loans, with 286 repaid and so we now have 40 loans currently outstanding.

CRITERIA FOR SELECTING ENTREPRENEURS: How do we select our micro-business loan recipients? We maintain our high repayment rates by carefully selecting our loan recipients based on gender, the amount required to fund their micro-business and the political stability in their country.

SUCCESSFUL OUTCOME: In many cases, our selection of successful micro-businesses and loan repayors are either sole female entrepreneurs or teams of female micro-business entrepreneurs.

By working together in a co-operation business venture, they can better their lives, help support their husbands and get their children a better education. They are the cornerstones of their families and local communities.
