Banstead Christmas Tree and High Street Lights Switch-On November

On Thursday, 27 November, Banstead officially welcomed the festive season with the annual Christmas Tree and High Street Lights Switch-On, marked by a much-anticipated visit from Father Christmas. The event also signalled the launch of Banstead & Sutton Nonsuch Rotary’s annual Christmas Collection in support of a wide range of deserving local charities.

The Banstead Community Christmas Event was organised by Banstead Rotary in partnership with the Banstead Village Residents Association, with valuable support from local businesses. The evening featured festive refreshments and stalls, special shopping offers from High Street retailers, children’s games on The Orchard, and a memorable appearance by Father Christmas, who arrived in the Rotary sleigh.

Banstead Village was transformed with sparkling fairy lights, carol singers, and a truly festive atmosphere. The Deputy Mayor of Reigate and Banstead, Councillor Zelanie Cooper, attended the event, which culminated in the official switch-on of the High Street and Christmas Tree lights, assisted by Father Christmas himself.

As part of the celebrations, Banstead & Sutton Nonsuch Rotary’s Father Christmas tours are now underway, spreading seasonal cheer and collecting donations from local residents. In previous years, these efforts have raised approximately £13,800 for local causes. Every penny raised will go directly to supporting local charities in Banstead and Sutton.
