REMEMBRANCE DAY...

Honouring Service above self

Dear Friends

What a weekend it’s been! I’m filled with gratitude for the warmth, energy, and generosity you brought to our events.

It was truly inspiring to witness such a strong sense of community spirit on display. The presence of the church, together with its faith and prayers, provided a meaningful and reflective foundation to the occasion. The dedication and exemplary conduct of the cadets in leading the occasion, particularly those representing the Reserve Forces and Cadets Associations (RFCA) and the Army Cadet Force (ACF) were outstanding, reflecting great credit on both the cadets themselves and their leaders. The valued presence of representatives from the Metropolitan Police Service further underscored the strong partnership between uniformed services and the community, contributing greatly to the dignity and success of the occasion.

It was a pleasure to be welcomed to the Remembrance Day event by the Royal British Legion (RBL), alongside the Deputy Mayor of the Borough of Reigate and Banstead, Councillor Zelanie Cooper, whose presence was greatly appreciated. The Deputy Mayor engaged warmly with residents throughout the occasion, taking time to speak with veterans, attendees and showing genuine interest, which added greatly to the sense of community and respect that marked the day.

My heartfelt thanks are also extended to everyone who supported the coordination of Remembrance Day. Our Rotarian family was well represented at both the Town of Belmont and the Town of Banstead, it was deeply moving to see our community come together in unity and respect. Our talented photographers, the “Johns,” have beautifully captured the moments!

As we pause to reflect, lest we forget, let's also remember at this time our fellow Rotarians who have gone before us, Rotarians facing health challenges and loss, those travelling, continuing Rotary’s spirit of service wherever they go. May we hold them close in thought and continue to support one another.

Thank you for making our club not just a gathering but a family.

With deepest appreciation and warm regards,

Adore
