Charity Partners club dinner celebrating over £14,475 raised!

The Rotary Club of Banstead & Sutton Nonsuch has raised over £14,475 for local charities over the Christmas period thanks to the generosity of Banstead and Sutton residents.



The Club held a dinner for charity partners at Cuddington Golf Club on Tuesday evening to mark this with as Guest of Honour the Mayor of Reigate & Banstead, Councillor Rich Michalowski.
President Adore Shuko greeted everyone at the dinner and outlined the event's purposes:
To enjoy a delicious meal and pleasant company;
To offer charities the chance to network and connect with each other;
To share insights about what Banstead & Sutton Nonsuch Rotary does, to present the cheques, and to honor one of our Charity Walk teams with an award.
A great evening was enjoyed by all with Cuddington Golf Club serving a delicious two course dinner of Chicken Chasseur with accompanying vegetables , and, a delicious lemon tart with mixed fruits.
Before dinner there was the chance to network over drinks in the bar.
Rotarian Stuart Walker provided a talk Rotary and the Club’s charity work and the ABC of why he joined and took on volunteering opportunities.


The Mayor shared information about the charities he is backing this year: I Choose Freedom and Homestart East Surrey. He commended Rotary for its philanthropic support to the community.

The Santa sleigh has been running for a great number of years and is a popular festive feature in the Banstead and Sutton Community. Returning for the Christmas period this year and with charity partner Elves raised over £14,475 during the Christmas activities this year which included participation in the Banstead Village Christmas Lights switch on with the Club Santa magically turning on the Christmas Tree lights.
The club also organises supermarket collections and these took place at Tesco Sutton, Waitrose Banstead and Asda in Burgh Heath.

Some of the charities to benefit include Scouts , Home Start, Dyscover, Age Concern Banstead, National Autistic Society Surrey, Epsom and Ewell Talking Newspaper, Diamond Riding School, Princess Alice Hospice, Crossroads Care Surrey, Maggie’s Royal Marsden, Jigsaw4U, Sutton Women’s Centre, Sutton Volunteer Centre and Parkinson’s UK .

Jigsaw4U also attended to receive a trophy as the most successful Charity Walk fundraisers.

After the Mayor had presented the cheques we took photos and, then President Adore thanked the attendees and she wished everyone a good journey home!
