Highlights from the District Governor’s Visit on August 5
Unite For Good!

Our meeting on Tuesday was held at Cuddington Golf Club and attended by a number of guests, including District Governor Olatunji (TJ) Olaleye and Assistant District Governor Folasade Demuren, making this their first visit to Banstead and Sutton Nonsuch Rotary.
Making a visit to us is a privilege and is much appreciated by the members. TJ spoke about changes at Rotary GB&I, support available from the District Team, as well as our clubs' development and achievements. Highlights included:
The Rotary International theme for the 2025-26 Rotary year is "Unite for Good". This theme was announced at the 2025 Rotary International Assembly and emphasizes Rotary's role in bringing people together to address global challenges and promote positive change.
He urged the club to make sure that all its work is recorded in the Rotary South Newsletter and noted that he was impressed by our successes and plans.
TJ also spoke on the need for clubs to support District events and programmes, asked for members' suggestions and opinions on how clubs can better engage the District Leadership. He also implored members to register and welcome the delegates and fellow Rotarians at the District Conference.
He spoke about his professional life, how he joined Rotary in Ireland, the launch of his term of office, the activities and conferences that D1145 is hosting and focusing on increasing and retaining Rotary membership.
TJ stressed the benefits of being in Rotary, such as camaraderie, friendship, and the way you can leverage work by cooperating with other clubs and being part of something bigger; also, developing your career, for example, through project management and volunteering.
We also met a representative and the Centre Manager of Sutton Women’s Centre, Heather Smiles. She gave a brief overview of its work and thanked our President, Adore Shuko, for choosing this charity as her President’s charity. You can learn more here:
